► A.1.7 The Students' with Disabilities Officer

A.1.7       The Students’ with Disabilities Officer shall:

 

i)                    Be responsible for all those areas of ULU business specifically related to disabled students, and organise relevant educational and training events and briefings;

ii)                   Convene and chair the ULU Disabled Students’ Network;

iii)                 Liaise with other student officers with responsibility for disabled students issues, with those responsible for these issues within the colleges and schools of the University, with the NUS Students and Disabilities campaign and with other appropriate external agencies and organisations;

iv)                  Produce or update a handbook for students with disabilities within the University of London;

v)                   Liaise with the appropriate sabbatical and advise the Executive on issues of concern to students with disabilities;

vi)                  Carry out duties as may from time to time be laid down by the Union Council or the Executive or as determined on an annual basis at Executive training;

vii)                Liaise with other relevant officers and groups within UL Collegiate Unions, forming an ‘officer network’ which shall endeavour (in addition to email/phone contact) to meet at least once per term;

viii)               Make verbal reports to each meeting of the Executive, where applicable this shall include a report from the relevant ‘officer network’;

ix)                  Produce for their successor, an informative hand-over pack, which shall include all relevant contacts; and

Encourage changes within ULU to make its services accessible to students with disabilities.
