► Postgrad Welfare Advice

POSTGRADUATE ACADEMIC WELFARE
 ADVICE SERVICE AT ULU

ULU currently offers academic welfare advice (e.g. appeals and complaints) to research postgraduate students studying at the colleges of the University of London. This group of students are governed by central university examination regulations and, consequently, ULU has a responsibility to provide support if requested. The service also extends to research and taught masters students from the smaller colleges - whose student unions have very limited resources - and to external programme students. Previously the service has not been advertised widely and has been provided by a sabbatical officer, who has to combine this with many other responsibilities. When the service is re-launched in its new form, on 14th September 2006, it will be delivered by the postgraduate research and casework co-ordinator, a recently created staff post.

The postgraduate surgery will be based in the ULU building in Malet Street and will run one day a week, on Fridays, from 22nd September on an appointment basis. It will continue to deal primarily with academic welfare issues and to act as a referral point to other agencies for matters relating to housing, immigration, welfare benefits, etc.

For further information, or to make an appointment, please contact Annie Mitchell, Postgraduate Research and Casework Co-ordinator, tel: 020 7664 2067, email: [email protected]
