► Sports Massage

Sports Massage – Who is it for?

Sports Massage Therapy can help to provide a valuable addition to your training and preparation for future events, ensuring that muscles are in peak condition. It is particularly effective in treating minor soft tissue problems, relieving aches and pains before they develop into more serious overuse injuries.

You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from Sports Massage as muscle tension, stress and fatigue can affect us all, whether we are recreational athletes, stressed-out students or busy executives. It can also be very beneficial for those individuals suffering muscle aches and pains from inactivity, such as long-distance driving and sitting for long periods at a desk.

Therapist

Since April 2006, Marni Cochrane LSSM (Dip) MSMA, has been providing Sports Massage Therapy to a number of University of London students, staff and private members at very competitive rates. She deals with a wide variety of injuries, carrying out a range of techniques such as neuromuscular technique (NMT), muscle energy technique (MET), soft tissue release (STR) and connective tissue manipulation (CTM). She has worked with rugby and hockey players, rowers, runners, tri-athletes, footballers, gym-addicts in addition to those stressed-out students and office workers who suffer from tight shoulders, sore necks and stiff upper backs.

Your first treatment with Marni will consist of her taking a brief medical history and she will advise a possible treatment programme with emphasis on exercises that can be carried out at home on a day-to-day basis.
