Shaolin Nam Pai Chuan (North-South Fist) is a broad based martial arts system. Nam Pai Chuan traces its lineage back to Great Grand Master Hui Cheng of the Chek Chian Nan Hai Pooi Chee Temple in China. Master Hui was a direct descendant of the Southern Shaolin tradition taught by Buddhist Monks in the tradition of Da-Mo.
Our style includes many elements including kicking, punching, locking (Chin Na), nerve point and take down techniques, traditional sequencs, classical forms and Chi Gung breathing exercises. We also have various animal forms such as Leopard, Crane, Snake, Eagle, Tiger and Monkey. We have a rich weapons heritage with 18 traditional weapons including the Staff, Spear, Broadsword, Halberd, Butterfly Knives and Three Section Staff to name but a few.
Classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays in room 3E from 7-10pm. Lessons are £3 each or £15 per month. New students are advised to bring some loose comfortable clothing i.e. tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt and some water and/or a sports drink. No footwear is required.
We have a wide range of students from beginners to black belt and around 40% are women. New students will always be partnered with senior students as is traditional in Chinese martial arts. Gradings are held at Kings College four times a year in March, June, September and December. We also have various training courses and social events throughout the year.
