The Stonewall Lesbian and Gay Recruitment Guide 2006-07
Stonewall was pleased to announce the launch of the 2006/2007 edition of Starting Out, Britain’s only national recruitment guide for lesbian and gay graduates and jobseekers.
Stonewall's annual lesbian and gay recruitment guide is filled with interview tips, advice for jobseekers and over 170 gay-friendly employers.
Ben Summerskill, Stonewall chief executive, said: “Employers working with Stonewall are seeking to attract the very best talent and skills. Reaching out to Britain’s lesbian and gay graduates is a natural extension of this. Organisations featured in Starting Out are able to reach untapped markets of lesbian and gay recruits.”
Designed for discerning graduates and job-seekers, Starting Out is targeted at the 150,000 lesbian and gay students in Britain. Following last year’s success and increasing demand, circulation doubled from 10,000 hard copies of the first edition to 20,000 of the 2006/2007 guide. With nearly 100 more employers, the 2006/2007 edition of Starting Out more than doubled in size since its inaugural year. Showcasing some of the best employers for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people in Britain, the guide is distributed to every university, careers service and LGB student group in the country.
Peter Wisniewski, Director of Human Resources at Nike (UK) Ltd, one of 174 major employers featured in Starting Out, said: “We’re delighted to be included in Stonewall’s latest lesbian and gay recruitment guide. This allows us to profile Nike amongst a new and growing talent pool.”
The new edition of Starting Out and the launch event were supported by Credit Suisse. Anita Harper, EMEA Co-Head of Diversity & Inclusion at Credit Suisse, said: "Credit Suisse has a strong Diversity and Inclusion programme and actively fosters a positive working environment for its gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender staff. We are delighted to be sponsoring Starting Out".
Appearing in the guide free of charge, Diversity Champion organisations received complimentary copies at the launch held on 31 October at the University of London Union.
Vicki Slater, President of the University of London Union said, “We’re proud to support the second edition of Starting Out. Student unions were among the pioneers of lesbian and gay equality in education and have a long tradition of campaigning to end discrimination on any grounds.”
