13            Elections

 

13.1     The Returning Officer will supervise the proper conduct of the Union’s elections and may appoint a Deputy Returning Officer, who shall not be a candidate, to oversee their administration.

 

13.2     The Election Regulations shall be made by the Union Council in consultation with the Returning Officer and the University (in compliance with the Education Act 1994) and shall include provision for: the advertisement of vacancies; receipt of nominations; approval of candidature; publication of the names of candidates; candidates’ publicity; the election and counting of votes; announcement of the names of those elected; and procedures in the event of a disputed election and for casual vacancies.
