Being the ‘Top Specialist Institution in the WORLD’, SOAS SU, as you could imagine, hosts a wide array of activities, discussions, music events, food fayres and the such like. We invite you to come and participate, contribute, debate and party with us—just make sure you come with an open mind and an open spirit.

che guevaraThis year we are expecting and planning massive changes: amongst other things our bar will now open til 11pm and we are going to open an outside smoking area to bring back the SOAS vibe. We are also having a bit of a spruce up (don’t worry, we wont lose our uniqueness and there definitely won’t be a single shiny chair in sight!). Our main aim is to create an atmosphere which will encourage creativity and ensure a strong and active union.
Our first terms’ diary looks a little like this:
Mon:
‘(Lefty) Movie Mondays’,
Tues: ‘Socials with a Conscience’,
Wed: Quiz Thurs: Political Discussion/debate,
Fri: Live Music in JCR
(Look out for the home-grown Portico - we love you Portico).
Check out www.soasunion.org.uk for a full calendar. This year certainly looks to be an exciting, and at times controversial, year. If you have any ideas for events that you would like to do at SOAS, please contact us to discuss. We hope that together we can revive the spirit of solidarity-Viva la Revoluçion!!!

P.S. We have a long-standing tradition of campaigning with people who face hardship—contact us if/when you need support on demonstrations, rallies, fundraisers etc.
