► Regulation B – Elections

00/01 Policy

Valid AULUC 2006

REGULATION B – ELECTIONS

Proposed by Governance Committee

This Union Notes:

1.        That ULU will be holding a cross campus ballot this year for the first time ever.

This Union Believes:

1.        That the current election regulations are out-dated and contain irregularities.

2.        That the Council, Presidents’ Council, Governance Committee and the Elections Steering Group have put a great deal of thought and effort in to producing the recommended new election regulations.

3.        That the new election regulations reflects the nature of the cross campus ballot, brings ULU in to line with all University and Statutory requirements, eradicates irregularities and will enable the organisation to hold elections in a fair and democratic manner.

This Union Resolves:

1.        To agree the proposed new election regulations (attached), subject to minor changes.[1]

2.        To delete regulation H:6.2 inline with the above.

3.        To mandate Governance to monitor the implementation of the election regulations throughout this years first cross campus ballot and to implement a full and thorough review with a view to recommending any necessary changes to council.

PASSED:  26th January 2001
