► Sports and Societies Regulations

01/02 Policy

Valid AULUC 2007

SPORTS AND SOCIETIES REGULATIONS

Proposed by: Nigel Fletcher (ULU V-P Finance & Societies)

Seconded by: Neil Rogers (ULU V-P Sports)

THIS UNION NOTES

1.       That Sports & Societies form an integral part of the core activities for students of the University of London.

2.       That the responsibility for ensuring the proper running of these activities lies with the Sports & Societies Committee, a sub-committee of Council.

3.       That there are discrepancies between section 8 of the Constitution, Section D:2 and F:1 in the Regulations, dealing with Sports & Societies Committee.

4.       That Section F:2 of the regulations dealing with Societies does not accurately reflect current practice;  and that there are no regulations for Sports Clubs.

THIS UNION BELIEVES

1.       That to ensure the continuing development and effective running of Sports & Societies requires regulations which properly reflect established correct procedure.

2.       That Sports & Societies Committee will better be able to discharge its responsibilities on behalf of Council if it has a clearer and more robust constitutional and regulatory framework.

THIS UNION RESOLVES

1.       To delete section 8 of the Constitution and replace in its entirety with the revised section 8 below.

2.       To delete parts D:2, F:1 and F:2 of the Regulations and replace them in their entirety with the revised versions below.

3.       To insert the sections F:3 and F:4 below into the Regulations to cover Sports Clubs.

4.       To mandate the Chair of Council to bring the above Constitutional amendment before the appropriate University body for approval.

PASSED: Monday, 27th May 2002
