Valid AULUC 2007
Proposed by ULU Executive Committee
1. that the officers of the Union are the President, the Vice-Presidents, and no more than fourteen non-sabbatical officers, whose titles and duties are laid down by the Union Council
1. That the nature and job-descriptions of non-sabbatical officers allows and empowers them to concentrate on a more specific remit than the sabbatical officers whose remits are necessarily much broader
1. That the current exception to the above is the Sports & Societies Officer, whose job description directly duplicates responsibilities which are undertaken by Sabbatical Officers on a full-time basis.
2. That this does not empower the Sports & Societies Officer to act in an effective capacity.
3. That this issue is a possible direct cause of the recent resignation of the Sports & Societies Officer.
4. That this resignation presents an opportunity to pro-actively review & re-assess the role of the Sports & Societies Officer, in order that Council is served as effectively and efficiently as possible by its elected officers.
1. To suspend the By-election for this position, in order that the role can be reviewed.
1. Governance Committee to fully review the role of the Sports & Societies Officer and any constitutional and/or regulatory amendments that a change of role might entail, and to make proposals to ULU Council at the earliest possible time.
2. Sports & Societies Committee to designate an alternate chair for and from within the Committee until such time as this process is completed.
