3.1 The membership of the Union shall be the Full, Associate and Temporary and Day Members.
3.2 The following shall be Full Members of the Union:
a) Registered internal students of the University of London
b) Honorary and Honorary Life Members of the Union.
3.3 The following shall on application be admitted to Associate Membership of the Union on payment of the necessary fee:
a) Employees of the University of London and its Colleges and
Institutes
b) Graduates of the University of London
c) External students, extra mural students and other categories of student
designated under Statute 61 and registered for a degree or other award of the University of London.
3.4 The following may be admitted to Temporary or Day Membership of the Union by the Union Council or the President acting on its behalf and on payment of the necessary fee:
a) Students who are members of institutions of higher education in the United Kingdom;
b) Bona-fide students from overseas;
c) Any persons who can demonstrate that they:
i) Within 48 hours will be, or already are, participating in a
conference or activity at the University of London; or
ii) are pursuing a University of London academic course; or
ii) are taking part in an exchange scheme at a College or
Institute of the University; or
iv) are visiting London for educational purposes; or
v) are visiting London for the purposes of engaging in competitive activity with University of London students. [I think this no longer stands].
Temporary or Day membership will not be granted for a period of longer than twelve months. Day members may have restricted or specified access to services as decided by the Union Finance Committee. [This will be looked into].
3.5 Except as provided below, none but full members of the union under 3.2 a) shall take part in the government of the Union, its societies or clubs; or represent the University in any competitive activity under the auspices of the Union.
3.6 The provision for members to resign their membership is contained in Ordinance 19.
