11 Staffing Committee
11.1 A sub-committee of the Executive Committee, known as the Staffing Committee, shall act with the full authority of the Union Council in matters relating to employment and the appointment of staff.
11.2 All Union staff will be employees of the University, with the same terms and conditions as University staff.
11.3 The staffing committee shall consist of the four sabbatical officers, the Senior Treasurer, two non-student members of CSAM, with the General Manager and the University’s Personnel Officer in attendance. The General Manager will be secretary to the staffing committee.
11.4 The President of the Union will chair the staffing committee as the student officer with responsibility for staffing issues.
11.5 The staffing committee will be responsible for policies relating to staff restructuring, job descriptions, regrading requests, job evaluation, pay reviews and recruitment. Responsibility for grievance and disciplinary issues would rest with the President and General Manager as appropriate.
11.6 The staffing committee will have the responsibility for the issue of student staff employment and wages.
11.7 The staffing committee will report all general policy decisions to the Executive Committee in compliance with the staff/student protocol.
