MOTION TO SECOND COUNCIL

THIS UNION NOTES

 

1.          ULU Regulations A:2 C (Vice-President [Welfare & Student Affairs] job description):

iv]            “Be responsible for all matters relating to accommodation…”

v]             “To convene the ULU Welfare Officers’ Network.”

xii]            “Be responsible for all matters relating to the Accommodation Office…”

 

2.       The invaluable service provided by the University of London Accommodation Office (ULAO), which supports students who are looking for or living in private sector accommodation.

 

THIS UNION BELIEVES

 

1.          That students’ unions have a duty to help their members’ time at university run as smoothly as possible.

2.          That finding and renting private accommodation is one of the most challenging problems facing students.

3.          That a close working relationship between ULU and ULAO is beneficial to students;

4.          That this relationship should be maintained year on year.

 

THIS UNION RESOLVES

 

1.          To mandate the Vice-President [Welfare and Student Affairs] to invite the University of London Accommodation Office to send a representative or representatives to one Welfare Officers’ Network meeting per term each year.

2.          That the issue of co-operation on any accommodation campaigns be discussed at such meetings.

3.          That these meetings seek to identify areas for collaboration for the benefit of University of London students.
