Hello,

I’m Nicky, the ULU Vice-President (Welfare & Student Affairs). My Remit covers student welfare, education issues and student representation. Whether you are having problems with your landlord, maybe feeling a bit homesick, I’m only a phone call or email away.

As well as sitting on a million and one University Committees, I represent students from the Central Institutions and Centrally Administered Courses such as PhD and Research Masters. I’m also the lead officer on campaigns relating to health, welfare and academic issues.

My priorities for this year are Healthy Living and Mental Health. 1 in 4 students will have some form of mental health issue during their time at University. At ULU, we believe that’s 1 too many. Keep your eyes open for events and information to help you with the stress of deadlines and exams, as well as tips for chilling out in between!

I’m currently in the middle of a music degree at the Royal Academy of Music so when I’m not involved with the Union I can be found playing the saxophone or viola, possibly even in an Orchestra society rehearsal. I’m also apparently far too bouncy first thing in the morning (not sure why that’s a bad thing?)

Don’t forget, your time at University’s not just about work. We are so lucky to study in a city as diverse as London, make sure you take the opportunity to explore and, most importantly, have fun! I hope you enjoy your year and I look forward to hearing from you,

Nicky x
