The inaugural year of the ULU Bangladeshi Society has been very successful having hosted numerous events, including a dinner, careers event and yet to come a Question Time event with the Bob Professionals group. We hope to continue this success.
Objectives of the ULU Bangladeshi Society (as outlined in our constitution):
To raise awareness of a minority but vocal group in society, amongst the colleges and affiliates of the University of London;
In the inaugural year we achieved this through the events hosted throughout the year and we have tried to be innovative in our thinking. The Careers Event was our best attended and we have made a great impact upon the student population which will certainly benefit the Society in the future.
To integrate different sections of the University of London through social events;
The creation of a ULU Bangladeshi Society has acted as a focal point for the Bangladeshi Societies of Kings College, Queen Mary, and Imperial College and has bought together these different strands. However many other colleges are left without their own Bangladeshi Societies and this is where ULU Bangladeshi Society has made a difference by including those people.
To create an intellectual forum for academic debate and discussion;
Through the Careers Event and our upcoming Question Time event we have been successful in establishing ourselves as an academic forum which is open and transparent and welcomes new ideas, thoughts, and participation.
