Amnesty International

Amnesty International has two main ways of working to achieve human rights for everyone: promoting general awareness of human rights; and opposing specific abuses of human rights.  Amnesty has a Student Action Network.

Burma Campaign UK

The Burma Campaign UK campaigns for human rights and democracy in Burma. BCUK works for the freedom of all the peoples of Burma regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or age. We provide analysis to the media and government, and we lobby and campaign to improve government and commercial policy on Burma.

CAFOD

The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development works alongside the poor regardless of race or religion, builds global partnerships for change, campaigns for a fairer world and puts faith into action.

Campaign Against the Arms Trade

CAAT is a broad coalition of groups and individuals in the UK working to end the international arms trade.  CAAT's immediate priorities are to end Government subsidies and support for arms exports; to end exports to oppressive regimes; and to support measures which will regulate the arms trade and lead to its eventual end.

Children of the Andes

Children of the Andes provides support to Colombia's most vulnerable children by working in partnership with local NGOs.

Christian Aid

Christian Aid is the official relief and development agency of 39 church denominations in the United Kingdom and Ireland.  It works where the need is greatest, in more than 50 countries across the world, helping communities regardless of religion.

Ethical Consumer

Ethical Consumer exists to promote universal human rights, environmental sustainability and animal welfare through ethical purchasing. We specialise in researching every ethical aspect of a product - from its environmental impact to the behaviour of the company group behind it.

Fairtrade Foundation

The Fairtrade Foundation awards the Fairtrade Mark, an independent consumer label which appears on products as an independent guarantee that disadvantaged producers in the developing world are getting a better deal.

Jubilee Debt Campaign

The Jubilee Debt Campaign demands an end to the scandal of poor countries paying money to the rich world.  The Campaign calls for 100% cancellation of unpayable and unfair poor country debts.

Justice for Colombia

JFC is a coalition of British organisations working in support of the Colombian people and trade union movement in their campaign for basic human rights and their struggle for peace with social justice.

Make Poverty History

In 2005, hundreds of organisations (including ULU) united in a coalition to Make Poverty History.  The campaigning continues in 2006, and this site has a helpful search facility to find out about the large number of campaigns that are running.

Oxfam - Generation Why

Share your ideas with like-minded people and get involved on the website Generation Why. It has loads of ways get involved with Oxfam, including blogs, e-cards, competitions and volunteering at festivals,  giving you the chance to do what you enjoy most and fight poverty at the same time.

Trade Justice Movement

The Trade Justice Movement campaigns for fundamental change to the unjust rules and institutions governing international trade, so that trade is made to work for all.  The Movement is a fast-expanding group of organisations.

War on Want

War no Want fighst poverty in developing countries in partnership and solidarity with people affected by globalisation.  They campaign for workers' rights and against the root causes of global poverty, inequality and injustice.
