Make Fairtrade Your Habit!
Fairtrade Fortnight is up and running! There are plenty of ways to campaign, to find out more and to enjoy special offers on fairtrade products. The ULU Trade Fair Forum takes place at 6.30pm on Thursday, 16th March, with the theme How Can I Be an Ethical Consumer? Come along for a relaxed and informative workshop led by campaigner Jacinta Kent. ULU is also working with King’s College London Students’ Union to run a Fairtrade Fayre at King’s on 16th March, while events at colleges range from chocolate promotions to a fairtrade fashion show. ULU Puts Its Money Where Its Mouth Is
ULU’s Healthy Living campaign aims to empower students to take greater control of their health, and ULU is implementing this principle in its own commercial services. The Gallery, one of our two main bars, has this week become permanently non-smoking. Student choice will be increased, as smoking continues to be permitted in the Duck and Dive. Vice-President Samuel Thomas said “ULU is showing that corporate social responsibility goes hand in hand with offering an excellent service”. Hearing the news, the BBC reported on ULU’s commitment to serving students with a diversity of tastes. Click here to read the BBC report.
Multifaith Dialogue – What Do YOU Want?
Students from across London met at ULU last week to question leading commentators on faith in student life. Topics included free speech, extremism, religious education and multifaith relations. ULU will continue promoting dialogue but we can’t do it without you! Student campaigns must be student-led, so tell us what you would like to see next. Do you want informal discussions, big debates, printed resources or something different? To make suggestions for ULU’s future multifaith work, or to ask questions, please e-mail us or call 020 7664 2056. It’s your views that matter!
Vote On ULU’s Future!
ULU’s elections are well under way, and you have until noon on Tuesday (14th March) to cast your online vote. You can elect ULU’s President, Vice-Presidents and Executive Committee as well as the editor of London Student. The results affect every student and the issues you care about, so remember to have your say! Click here to find out more.
