Access All Areas

ULU is working alongside Unions in the Colleges to ensure that students' needs are the priority in developing facilities across the University. This is the basis of Access All Areas, a ULU priority campaign for 2005-2006.
- We will research, support and collaborate with Unions in their campaigns to bring change where necessary.
-
The focus is to make ready for an expected increase in demand for Student Support that post 2006 fees will bring.
Facilities
Library opening hours and IT Cluster room space has been identified as a key campaigning issue for various reasons:
- Universities should be responding to the hours that their students (consumers) are available; there are more Part-time Students (41.7% of UK students) and Students working part-time than before.
-
Disparity in the level of library funding per student across the University of London. Where demand for library facilities is high, budgets need to increase to a reasonable level.
Health, Counselling and Advice Services are often overstretched, we must work to ensure:
- An increase in funding for these areas to reflect the anticipated demand (consumer perspective) for student services after 2006.
- Sound financial advice should be available to all students, but especially to part-timers after 2006.
- The student / consumer rights perspective applies to advice provisions for individual student disputes against Institutions (academic casework etc.)

Rights
Student involvement in their Institution’s governance is critical to this campaign. ULU will support those Unions who are not involved in decision making committees. Aims include:
- To increase ‘boardroom participation’ where possible across the whole University of London.
-
To study regulations for each University Institution to compare rights given to students in individual disputes.
