Student Marketing Specialists


If you are or want to become an Associate Member of the University of London Union then you will need to be one of the following:

  • A staff member of the University of London or one of its constituent colleges.  See the full list of colleges here.
  • A graduate of the University of London.
  • An external, extra mural or other category of student designated under the Ordinances of the University registered for a degree or other award of the University of London.
  • A student from the UK or abroad and can prove that you have student status, eg holding a valid student card from the College/University where you study.

If you don't fit in to one of the categories above, then why not see if you fit in to the Full/Ordinary Membership category?

Benefits of being an Associate Member of ULU

If you become an Associate Memebr of ULU, you will be able to use the Students' Union as if it were your own!  The membership entitles you to become a member of Energy Base, our on-site gym and health club, at a reduced rate (see rates here), you can enter the building after 6.30pm to use the bars and facilities and you can even join the ULU clubs and societies*.

How do I apply for Associate membership?

Applying to be an Associate Member can be done in person or by post.  Here's a checklist of what you will need to do.

 Identification

You will need to bring in or post the relevant identification for your application:

  • Student - produce a photocopy of your College Registration or copy of your college ID  card.
  • Graduate - Produce a photocopy of your graduate certificate or alumni card.
  • Staff - Produce college ID card.
 Passport photo
We're not as strict as the passport office with these, so bring us a nice small photo that you don't mind people seeing on your card, but looks like you of course!
 Cost

The Associate Membership card costs £20.00, see how you're applying to find out how we can take the money:

  • In person at ULU Reception - we can accept cash or cheque (made payable to University of London Union)
  • By post - cheque (made payable to University of London Union).  Only cheques in Pounds Sterling will be accepted and please DO  NOT send cash in the post.
  • SENATE / STEWART  HOUSE  STAFF - If you work in  Senate House or Stewart House, please obtain a "Staff Association membership at ULU" form from HR  and bring this in or post instead of payment.
 Where? Either bring everything above with you to ULU  Reception or post the application to: ULU Associate Memberships, University of London Union, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HY.

*When joining a club or society, you will not be eligible to compete in any national university leagues involved with BUCS (Briitish Universities and Colleges Sport) or compete for representative sides, however you will be able to get involved with all of their training and other activities.  Not all clubs compete in national competitions, so please check with each club individually regarding these restrictions.  Associate members are not eligible to hold officer positions in clubs or societies or to vote.

The Associate Membership card is valid for a year from the date of issue.
