BIRKBECK COLLEGE

Birkbeck Students' Union promotes welfare issues, represents students' interests on College committees and provides social activities via events and societies.  Birkbeck Union is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS) and the Mature Students' Union.

SUPPORT SERVICES

• Counselling (free, confidential services dealing with personal issues)
• Advice Centre (drop-in service offering general advice and referrals)
• Skills for Life Workshops (free workshops in essay writing, time management, presentation skills, etc.)
• Student Representation (class representation, appeal cases, discrimination, harassment, etc.)

FACILITIES AND SERVICES

• Union Shop selling light snacks and drinks, stationery and Birkbeck branded items, all at reasonable prices.  Located in the basement of the main building and is open Monday to Friday from 12pm - 9pm and Saturdays from 10am - 4pm.
• NUS cards for discounts on goods, theatre, cinema, etc.
• Student magazine, The Lamp & Owl.
• Photocopying facilities.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

• Newly renovated and student affordable bar with regular entertainment, Sky TV and a pool table.
• Twenty societies ranging from archaeology to football.
• Access to the University of London (ULU) bars, fitness facilities, swimming pool and retail outlets, located next door to Birkbeck Malet Street building.
