ULFC was first set up in 1913. The club grew to become very successful in the 1950’s and 1960’s when both Bobby Robson and Jimmy Hill served as Head Coach. The club’s high profile and reputation for quality enabled it to secure games with reserve teams of professional clubs, whilst also enjoying the traditional fixtures against other student representative sides, including Oxford and Cambridge Blues sides. Unfortunately, after a slow decline in support and organisation, the club was disbanded in 2003 after 90 years, and it was only in 2005 that a programme was re-introduced. Over the last 4 years the club has been run by a student committee, whose members have worked dedicatedly to rebuild the reputation of the club both within ULU and with our traditional opponents. Last season (2008-2009) was a major step forward in this rebuilding process, as professional coaches were hired, leading to a greater level of organisation and professionalism being adopted.

Our club offers an elite standard of football for London students, without imposing on their university studies, or college football team commitments. Our aim is to create a club with an organised and semi-professional ethos, and to provide an arena for the most proficient, passionate and able male footballers at the University of London to excel. We compete against opposition of a similarly high prestige, profile and quality, which encourages the best footballers at the colleges to choose to play for the University of London. We also provide students with access to professional coaches and facilities, which is a unique selling point of University of London representative football.
