Thank you for your valuable, honest feedback regarding our services as part of our ‘Have Your Say’ campaign. The results of this mean we can continue to improve on what we offer students, giving you the best possible value and student experience.

As well as acknowledging what you liked most about our services, managers of each department have also addressed the issues raised. Some of their responses can be seen below. We will be addressing upcoming issues and updating the report on a monthly basis.

Clubs & Societies / Student Activities 

Issue: No online membership/subscription available 
Response: The ability to sign up for Sports and Societies online will be available in time for Freshers in the new academic year (2013-2014) with the launch of a new website.

Issue: Room bookings not taken seriously 
Response: This area continues to improve. Each society is given access to the same room one day per week. There is also opportunity to book an additional room on an ad-hoc basis, but in that instance same room cannot be guaranteed. Better monitoring of room allocation and usage will be introduced.

Issue: English food (Pork chops and kippers) should be more available 
Response: The demand for these items has been very minimal and they didn’t prove popular on past menus. However, the new menu will incorporate some less spicy food options to appeal to those who are not keen on spicy food. Keep suggesting your menu ideas though; we’re always looking to introduce new items.

Bars

Issue: Minimum card payment set too high (£5) 
Response: Cashback is now offered in the bars (when you are paying with a debit card you can get cash to make your items over £5)

Lunchbox Café

Issue: Minimum card payment set too high (£5)
Response: Due to very slow speed at which the card machine works, number of machines available and queues at lunchtime reduced minimum payment would have very negative effect on the service (e.g. longer waiting time). 3-5 customers can be served in the time required for a card transaction. Costs of upgrading the tills are being looked at.

Issue: Complaints about music   
Response: Music is played through SUB.TV system, which automatically plays songs. However, there is now a SUB.TV app available for download, which allows you choose the music played (like a jukebox). SUB.TV will be informed to update music more regularly and to advertise their app.

Issue: Requests for more yoga classes (especially lunchtime)
Response: As yoga classes are very popular, more classes are a possibility for the upcoming term (Term I 2013-2014) depending on timetable restrictions. Watch this space!.

Issue: Shower temperature too hot (in the changing rooms)
Response: Showers have now been adjusted; four showers closer to the poolside are now cooler.

Issue: High temperature and humidity level in the changing rooms
Response: Air conditioning wasn’t installed properly when the changing rooms were originally constructed - hence the poor ventilation, especially at peak times. This issue has been raised and complaints have been passed on to the building manager.

Response: We’ve now fixed all lockers (since the beginning of May). Please continue to report this in future.

Issue: No hangers in the showers and drying area (in the changing rooms)
Response: Hangers have been requested, also for the toilet doors. These should be installed soon!

Issue: Water temperature too high (29-30ª)
Response: For competitive swimmers, the pool may seem too warm – we apologise for this. However, the temperature is set at a level suitable for all users, including members participating in classes such as Aqua Fit.
