Welcome to the newly created Ethical and Environmental section of our website.

Living now in the 21st Century, there is a greater responsibility than ever before on each and everyone one of us to maintain the world we live in, and promote a peaceful co-existence with each other, both locally and globally, one devoid of prejudice and discrimination.

Throughout the ages, the human race has developed through different stages of revolution, be they industrial, political, or even religious; and they have all contributed to a greater sense of awareness and knowledge on how we should function as people, through mistakes made and lessons learnt. One of those biggest mistakes made, and even being made today, is the blasé attitude taken by our leaders on climate change. It’s an issue as real as daylight itself, and we need to act in whatever capacity we can.

Real, pragmatic steps have to be taken in daily individual life, and these steps are admittedly even new to me, but I now find myself doing things and buying products with a preceding thought evaluating its source and impact, from buying Fairtrade produce where feasible to walking up the stairs and not taking the lift, it’s as easy as that!

Students are the future of tomorrow, and as such we need to be informed and lead by example to be the change we want. The University of London Union through this section will demonstrate how it will act in such a manner, and encourages all other to follow suit. There will be practical tips on how you and your Union can get involved too. Now is a good time to say a massive thank you to the ULU Building and Environment Manager, Dave Yates, who really has been pushing the E&E agenda at ULU, the success of which is part- manifesting itself on this very website.
