► UoL London Living Wage Campaign

The ULU is working together with London Citizens to secure a London Living Wage (LLW) for employees across the University of London.

ULU has already announced plans to pay its cleaning and catering staff a LLW by the end of April following in the footsteps of SOAS, LSE and Queen Mary's University who already pay the LLW. The campaign aims to encourage that all higher education institutions pay the LLW across the University of London.

The Living Wage Campaign calls for every worker in the country to earn enough to provide their family with the essentials of life.

Launched by London Citizens in 2001, the campaign has won over £70 million of Living Wages, lifting over 10,000 families out of working poverty.

The Living Wage is a number. An hourly rate, set independently, every year (by the GLA in London). It is calculated according to cost of living and gives the minimum pay rate required for a worker to provide their family with the essentials of life.
In London the current rate is £8.30 per hour.
Outside of London the current rate is £7.20.
